about

This first half of this song was written as automatic writing by Monti Karus. He became addicted to the droning quality of the first opening chord and decided to work with that. Obviously it is influenced by his religious upbringing. He wishes to express in this work, that yes, although 'the end' may be coming (a christian ending or not) - from the flames and the ashes of this end we can rise to become the fullness of our being. Monti went to on play this song in many evolving version on the streets of the world from Istanbul to Fremantle.

The second part of the song was written in a cave in Matala, Crete while he had a toothe ache he could not get rid of. It was the most excruciatingly painful toothache and nothing could be done about it besides drink an aspirin. He decided to sing whatever would relieve the pain and put his mind to this intention. He sang these words to open chords and the tears flowed and flowed. He had not cried this much since he was a child. Eventually the aspirin kicked in after about twenty minutes of playing music and crying and he went to sleep.

The two parts were joined to make the entire song of Ragnarok. Umur played this song with Monti on the streets of Istanbul and Katerina expressed her love for the first part of this song when it was played at the Macedonian Rainbow gathering in 2017. Katerina's voice, gadulka and bendir complete the song and here it is in its eventual expression. Goce assisted in the studio on the fly with some extra drums and effects (thank you Goce!)

Guitar and vocals: Monti

Gadulka, bendir and third vocals: Katye

Second Vocals and Oud: Omar

lyrics

As the end has no beginning

and the sky will fall tonight

I dream of lakes filled with fear

Where all the bodies want to die

I dream of lakes filled with fire

Where all the bodies are deniers

It's the falling of innocence

that's made me feel

so alone

The fire will fall, fall tonight

And I will rise in recognition

The fire will fall, fall tonight

Rise with the flames and be free

My God, my god - why can't you hear me anymore?
